Not much difference, but determination is a pain int he butt to get. tricaru with all determination would be +48% def for each tricaru, but if you have all guard, its +45% def for each. 8% per set x 9 sets is 72%, not 45%. Nah that's incorrect, the animation for the tmog is faster than the 2A skin. Unless you've got high quality runes to have high dmg on the three Icarus, the two transmogged Icarus should have good accuracy so they def break first during a team up and the regular Icaru (built with good dmg) comes in after the def break is applied.

No but instead of using actually good runes to make 5-15 monsters that probably can't be used except for pve dungeons bc that's what they're runed for, you can use 1 high dmg mon and 3 mons with sets that are unusable for anything else and that team takes care of 3 dungeons.I'm wondering what people think about using Tricaru as an Arena Offense team/what kind of 4th mons people are or have used in that regard. Verde just needs 100% CR and enough HP to stay alive. As your runes improve, you can upgrade Verd to more of a damage dealer - but for your first team, it's not required. Maxing slot 3 and grinding any hp% or def% subs that happen to be on the set could allow Verde to survive a hit. I have zero determination runes on my tricaru team. I threw a bunch of left over runes with high def%, some speed and some accuracy. Crafted 2 or 3 guard def% runes and that was it. I wouldn't say the rune requirements are low but most C2 and above players would not find them difficult.
