I have a Moto G5s, 5 years old. I could always use the hotspot with my AT&T Sim card. Recently I switched to a T-mobile and the hotspot still works. My wife has a newer Moto 7play and could never use it as a hotspot. She has a Verizon Sim. We both have the same $25, 60 day auto-renew plan.
