I've recommended 2/18 barbarian/cleric human before for solo hardcore gameplay. This starts with 2 barbarian, then goes full cleric. Blood tribute from barbarian is a phenomenal defensive tool that falls off at higher levels. Yes, you are losing the healing, but get Blood Tribute and Dragonmark of passage for teleport hotkey. Also human has some sweet Healing amp.
