If you just want a range toy and can afford $700 more the Staccato in steel would be nice too. Should look at the Staccato C2 as a better comparison to the Prodigy FWIW.. If you don't care about weight and $700 is a lot of scratch to you then look hard at the Prodigy. No doubt the Staccato is a higher quality gun. But the Prodigy fills a niche too.I stick to 1911s. And when I want a double stack, it's a Sig classic P-series. Even the P226 feels downright svelte compared to the Prodigy. Edited to add: Springfield continues to list a weight for the 4.25" Prodigy as 32.5 oz. It's not - mine weighed 37 oz on a digital scale. It's not a light carry option.
