Oct 2, 2019 · i am struggling to figure out this problem. Basically the engine surges or hunts from idle through full throttle. I researched and done all the things that I’ve seen suggested. 3 different carbs. Current one is brand new. Still surges. Fuel pump works. Fuel lines clear. The engine started to surge like it was running out of fuel. When I stopped to open the gate and idled it down, the engine nearly died. I thought maybe the gauge was reading wrong and the tank was empty even though it needle was pointing to 1/4 tank. I pushed the throttle all the way open, and the engine seemed to run OK.Sep 26, 2007 · My problem is that the engine runs well at full throttle, but at idle or part-throttle it surges.
