And there's a really easy and difinitive way to tell the difference - the 1:7 barrels have a conspicuous "178" stamped down near the trunnion indicating 1 twist in 178mm. The 1:12 barrels are not marked 178. Don't let anyone try to sell you one as a 1:7 twist barrel if it doesn't have the marking.
