Or this could be an issue with the immobilzer unit, or the part of the ignition switch which reads the key. Simply reprogramming the key would fix this. IMMO,MUX and/or ECM has lost synchronization: This is also very common for the same reason as #1 but what happens here is the check code between one of the three gets corrupted. The key is still programmed to the immobilizer but the immobilizer can not verify with the ecm or mux.

The immobilizer is doing it's job - it doesn't recognize the response it got from that key's RFID chip, so it says "no start for you". The battery in the key has nothing to do with the RFID chip in the key; that chip gets it's power wirelessly from the immobilizer's antenna.
