Marlin 39a serial number dates.

I have a 39A that i got from my father-in law. I was trying to find out the manufacture date, but the first character of the serial number is odd. (see attached image). It looks like it could be a D or a P, but it is missing part of the letter. It does not look like the missing part has worn off, it looks like it was never there.

It's marked 39A on the barrel and has the serial # 3XX (a 3-digit number) under the lever. There is no letter prefix. The serial # is also on the upper half of the receiver on the inside . Everything looked good inside the receiver except that it was missing the lever detente spring. The screw was there - just no spring.

Examples; 20xxxxxx is 1980, 05xxxxxx would be 1995, your 93xxxxx is 2007. However, prior to 1968, there were letter codes for the year, except for non-39A rimfires.
