Removing the clip from the handguard, from my experience, it's best to use the handguard clip tool. Removing the handguard from the rifle, can be done with a couple of small flat blade screw drivers. I cracked a wooden handguard trying to put the clip on. Bought another wooden handguard from Fulton and the clip tool. Here are a few suggestions:

1)Remove the stock and turn the rifle over, sights down. 2)Support the rifle at the muzzle and receiver ends...leave space underneath the handguard.
